Turku Cancer Research Society has awarded five 2000€ prostate cancer research grants, from Kalmar Global’s donation, to the following researchers:
Anna Aakula: “The role of Protein Phosphatase Methylesterase 1 (PPME1) in neuroendocrine prostate cancer”
Lauri Eklund: “Research into the annotation of digitized histopathological images of prostate cancer and its applications in the development of machine learning algorithms”
Reko Kemppainen: “Geometrically accurate diffusion weighted imaging of the prostate”
Anna Kuisma: “Biological imaging in treatment planning of prostate cancer”
Kreetta Paunu: “Role of BRCA1 and BRCA2 in prostate cancer”

Turku Cancer Research Society invites applications for working grants!
The grant money is donated by Kalmar Global/Cargotec, and the aim of the grants is to support and encourage prostate cancer research in Turku. TCRS will award four-five, 2000 – 2500 € working grants.
To be eligible to apply you must
- study or hold an MSc or a PhD or an MD degree
- not be paid salary from any other source during the intended time of this grant (Note: timing for the grant claiming can be negotiated)
- be a TCRS member (see how to easily become a member at https://cancerresearch.utu.fi)
- give a short, 5 min presentation of your project on 7thof May 2019, during our Prostate Cancer Seminar Event, should your application be awarded
Applications should include 1) a motivation letter (max. one page) clearly stating the aims and significance of the project for prostate cancer research as well as eligibility of an applicant, and 2) a CV, and they are to be sent as a single pdf file to contact-tcrs(at)lists.utu.fi
The deadline for applications: 29th of March 2019. Successful candidates will be notified by email by 12th of April 2019.
